MJ
Mermer, Owner and President of Pilates By MJ, Inc., is a Certified Pilates Instructor in the Original Pilates®
Method and New York based Classical Pilates. She has taken workshops with
Master Pilates Guru Bob Liekens and recently (June 2007) trained with
Mari Winsor at the Pilates Style Conference in Hollywood, Florida.
MJ is a veteran to the fitness industry and has produced a series of
popular women's fitness videos that have been distributed worldwide.
MJ previously founded the first of it's kind, an Original Pilates®
Studio in South Florida with Mary Pilates, niece of Joseph H. Pilates and MJ still
continues the Original Pilates Method with Mary Pilates by her

By MJ is the third Pilates Studio owned by MJ in the South Florida area
and her numerous certifications include aerobics, mat science, body sculpting,
Pilates Mat, Small and Large Equipment. She is certified in Special
Needs Pilates and has also taught Pilates to children at "Triple
Threat" Dance Studio in South Florida to enhance their stamina for
the performing arts. MJ was the first to introduce and teach a
Pilates program at Lady of America fitness centers in Broward and Palm
Beach counties. MJ is also a Certified Life Coach. She has extensive
experience in the medical/surgical and dental fields - holding a
certification in Medical Transcription and Dental Radiology. She
was a surgical assistant to a cosmetic plastic surgeon and worked in the
psychiatric unit, ER, ICU and surgical units at Imperial Point Hospital
in Fort Lauderdale. She also managed a championship
golf pro-shop in South Florida.
MJ also has over ten years of dance and nine years of Pilates
experience. She is a native of South Florida. Her dedication to the
work and teachings of Joseph H. Pilates has earned her a national
reputation and she is known as one of the foremost authorities on the
Original Pilates Method in the country.
